🚀 Plug this into Claude Code or Claude Desktop
This spec contains the step-by-step setup guide and the three production-ready Claude prompts for running SEO audits, bulk content updates, and design system cleanups on any Webflow site.
Want hands-on help connecting this to your client sites? That’s what the Talk-to-Build community is for.
You can now manage every Webflow site you run directly from Claude. No more logging into dashboards to update a meta description or change a headline. You just ask for it. This is the how-to for the tool that unlocked it.
Webflow’s native Claude Connector went live earlier this year, and it turns any Webflow site into a resource that Claude can read and edit. It’s the biggest change to my agency’s maintenance workflow in years. Here’s exactly how to set it up and put it to work.
What is the Webflow Claude Connector?
The Webflow Claude Connector is a native integration that allows Anthropic’s Claude AI to directly access and manage a Webflow website. It uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to connect via OAuth, eliminating the need for third-party middleware or API keys. This gives users the ability to perform tasks like content updates and SEO audits through conversational commands in Claude.
The 3 Production-Ready Prompts You Can Use Today
These are three copy-pasteable prompts that solve real agency tasks inside Claude Desktop once it’s connected to Webflow. They handle a bulk SEO audit, a multi-page content rewrite, and a design system cleanup. These prompts save hours of manual clicking through the Webflow dashboard and are the foundation of an agentic maintenance workflow.
# 1. Bulk SEO Audit Prompt
Connect to my Webflow site. Scan all published CMS pages and identify any pages missing a meta description or with a Page Title under 10 characters. Output a table with three columns: Page Name, Missing Element, and Suggested Fix.
# 2. CMS Content Update Prompt
Connect to my Webflow site. For the following 5 blog post slugs, update the 'summary' field to be a single, 150-character sentence that ends with a question.
Slugs:
- /blog/post-one
- /blog/post-two
- /blog/post-three
- /blog/post-four
- /blog/post-five
# 3. Design System Cleanup Prompt
Connect to my Webflow site. Identify every instance of the CSS class `old-button-style-deprecated` used across the site. List the pages where this class is found. Then, suggest a plan to replace it with the correct design system class `button-primary-v2`.
These prompts work because they are specific and action-oriented. They tell the AI exactly what to look for and what kind of output to provide, turning a complex task into a single command.

Here’s exactly how I’d do this
Connecting Claude to your Webflow site is a one-time setup process that takes less than five minutes and requires no code. You simply authorize the connection from within Claude Desktop’s settings, which then allows Claude to interact with your Webflow projects directly. This turns your AI assistant into a full-fledged member of your web team.
- Open Claude Desktop Settings. In the Claude Desktop app, navigate to your account settings or preferences. Look for a section labeled “Integrations” or “Connected Apps.”
- Find and Select Webflow. In the list of available integrations, you’ll see Webflow. Click on it to begin the connection process. This is where the magic starts.
- Authorize Access. You’ll be redirected to a Webflow authentication screen. Log in to your Webflow account if you aren’t already, and grant Claude permission to access your sites. This uses a secure OAuth flow; you are not sharing your password.
- Run a Test Prompt. Once connected, go back to Claude and run a simple test. A good first prompt is: “List the names of all the sites in my Webflow account.” When I ran this for the first time on a client project, seeing the list appear in seconds confirmed the connection was live.
What this changes for designer-run agency work
The Webflow Claude connector changes agency maintenance retainers by shifting the core work from time-consuming manual tasks to efficient, agent-driven operations. This allows agencies to deliver results faster, handle more clients with the same team, and price services based on the value of automated management rather than billable hours spent clicking in a dashboard.
| Dimension | Old way | New way |
|---|---|---|
| SEO Audits | Manually open each page, check meta fields, log in a spreadsheet. | Run a single Claude prompt to scan the entire site in 90 seconds. |
| Content Updates | Log in, navigate to CMS, open item, edit field, save, repeat. | Provide a list of slugs and the new content in one prompt. |
| Client Reporting | Export CSVs, take screenshots, manually build a report. | Ask Claude to summarize changes made to the site this week. |
| Team Onboarding | Teach new hires the Webflow UI and where everything is located. | Teach new hires a few key prompts to manage the site. |
This is a fundamental shift in how we manage web properties. It’s the core idea behind the talk-to-build stack: your voice becomes the interface. Instead of navigating a GUI, you state your intent and the AI executes it. This is a massive leverage point for small, skilled teams.
My $0.02 — How I’d roll this out
I would integrate this into an agency over three days, focusing on safety, validation, and then commercialization. The goal is to move from a cool new feature to a reliable, billable service. This methodical approach ensures you understand the tool’s capabilities and limits before you start selling it to clients.
Day 1 — Internal Test. Connect Claude to your own agency’s Webflow site. Use the three prompts from the asset block above. The goal is to get a feel for the speed and accuracy. See what works, and more importantly, what doesn’t. This is your sandbox; no client risk involved.
Day 2 — Pilot on a Friendly Client. Pick one client you have a great relationship with. Let them know you’re testing a new AI workflow that will speed up their site updates. Use it for a real, non-critical task, like updating blog post summaries or adding alt text to images. Document the time saved.
Day 3 — Update Service Offerings. With a successful pilot complete, you now have a case study. Update your maintenance retainer packages. Add a line item for “Agentic Site Management.” You’re not just selling hours anymore; you’re selling a faster, more efficient system for keeping their digital asset up to date.
FAQ
What is the Webflow Claude Connector?
The Webflow Claude Connector is a native integration that lets the Claude AI directly access and modify your Webflow sites. It uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for a secure, direct link, allowing you to manage content, SEO, and design elements using simple conversational prompts instead of manual UI clicks.
Do I need a special Webflow plan to use this?
No, you don’t need a special plan, but your AI usage is tied to the AI credits included in your Webflow Workspace plan. Webflow began including these credits in all standard plans, making this feature accessible without a major upgrade. Check your specific plan for the exact number of credits.
Is it secure to give an AI access to my client sites?
The connection is secured using OAuth, meaning you grant permission without sharing your password. For larger teams, Webflow has rolled out enterprise-managed authentication, allowing a central admin to control which team members can connect their Claude sessions to the company’s Webflow account, adding a layer of security and control.
How is this different from using the Webflow API myself?
This is a direct, no-code connection. Using the API requires writing scripts, managing API keys, and setting up middleware. The Claude Connector removes all that complexity. You just talk to Claude, and it handles the API calls in the background. It’s the difference between being a developer and being a manager.
Can this build a full website from a Figma file?
This capability has been demonstrated, but it’s still an emerging workflow. While Claude can interpret a Figma design and generate a Webflow site, the process works about 70% of the time out of the box and often requires manual cleanup. It’s powerful for first drafts but not yet a one-click final product.
Does this work with ChatGPT or Gemini?
No. This is a native, first-party integration built by Webflow and Anthropic specifically for Claude. It relies on the Model Context Protocol that Claude is built on. There is currently no equivalent native connector for other AI models like ChatGPT or Gemini.
